As Troy Bolton, Gabriella Montez, and the rest of the cast of High School Musical 2 put it, “Summertime is finally here!”
That’s right, folks! Summer is upon us, and this could only mean one thing–more daylight, more adventures, vacations, and relaxation. Who wouldn’t be excited? It’s a season about fun, but note that everything comes with a price.
You need to beat the heat and care for your body more during this time. Don’t ruin your summer fun and let the hot weather prevent you from enjoying every moment outdoors. All that you need to do is to know how to take good care of yourself especially knowing these essential self care tips for women.
Here are some self care tips for stress – summer edition.
#1. Remember that knowledge is power.
To be able to care for yourself this summer, you should know the signs and symptoms that your body sends when you’re close to getting overheated. Brief yourself with all heat-related illnesses.
Typical signals include headaches, muscle cramps, fatigue, weakness, nausea, and confusion. Also, don’t forget to watch the forecast before going out. If you can’t take the predicted temperature, then you most probably should stay at home.
#2. Try to limit your hours outside as much as you can.
During summertime, give it your best to avoid the midday sun–where it is most direct and considered the hottest times of the day. It’s usually between 10 AM and 2 PM. But if you really need to go outside during that time frame, try to stay in the shade, or bring something to help chill you out like ice-cold water.
#3. Drink plenty frequently.
Let’s first clarify that we’re not talking about alcoholic beverages here–it’s about drinking to hydrate. Note that water is the best option for hydrating, but if you want something else, you can try lemonade, iced tea, a sports drink, or orange juice. If you are exercising, a sports or energy drink will be your best bet.
#4. Avoid exercising outside when it’s totally hot.
Exercising and breaking a sweat in the heat of the day is a no-no for your body. Both your workout and the hot weather will raise your body temperature and puts more stress on your body. There will be less blood circulating in your muscles, and thus your heart rate will increase. To get the best results, do your workout inside, every morning or in the evening.
#5. Dress appropriately.
Dressing appropriately according to the weather need not compromise your style. It’s just that your turtleneck cashmere sweater won’t do during hot days. You can work with loose clothing, shorts, and light colors to bring out the summer vibe in you! You can still slay that catwalk even with your maxi dress and sunhat.
#6. Don’t forget to use sunscreen.
Regardless of your complexion, you need to use sunscreen for protection. Apply the proper SPF to help prevent brown spots, premature wrinkles, discolorations, and even skin cancer. Sunblocks help your body to stay cool and lessen your chances of having sunburns. Use one that is at least SPF 30 or SPF 50–whichever suits you better!
And there you have it! Follow these tips for an enjoyable summer! Get out there and don’t let the heat of the sun bother you from having fun. While you’re away, have your house cleaned by the professionals and come home to a tidied up home after a sweet relaxation outdoors.
